     I-hsing red stoneware 
emerged as a distinctive 
type of pottery beginning 
in the Ming dynasty.  In 
addition to its original 
red stoneware body , this  
pot also has a painted 
floral design which has 
been fired over the top.  
This combination of red 
stoneware and enamel 
colors is highly unusual.
